New relationship between the leather sectors of Mongolia and Russia

27/03/2019
The Mongolian Association of Leather Industry (MALI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Tannery and Shoes Union (RTSU), which will see the organisations work together to develop leathergoods export-import partnerships between companies from the two countries.

This agreement came about after representatives from MALI attended the Mos Shoes footwear exhibition. Whilst there, they met with key figures from the Russian leather sector and from the Moscow State University of Design and Technology.

After these meetings, an agreement was reached to build further partnerships between the leather sectors of Mongolia and Russia. This will include exchanging know-how and expertise, enabling technology exchange and providing support on customs regulations.

The above activities were facilitated and financed by the European-Union funded project, ‘Support to Employment Creation in Mongolia (SECiM C2)’, which is being jointly implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO) and Government of Mongolia.
