Lectra to equip the next generation of automotive interior designers
23/01/2019
Its new partner is the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (UC DAAP). Through its Education Partnership Program, Lectra will donate its virtual prototyping and development solution, known as DesignConcept, to the university’s Myron E. Ullman, Jr. School of Design.
DesignConcept allows manufacturers of seating, dashboards and steering wheel covers to accelerate product development thanks to virtual prototyping. It will allow students from various degree programmes to learn product-development techniques, including 3D modelling and 2D patternmaking.
The new module, ‘The Future of Autonomous Vehicle Interiors: Materials and new Configurations’, will provide hands-on training using the solution. It will be offered from September 2019 and will be open to students preparing for design careers in transportation, fashion, furniture design and other industries.
Céline Choussy, Lectra’s chief marketing and communications officer, said: “This renewed partnership offers students the perfect laboratory to see exciting emerging automotive interior trends come to life with our digitalised product development solution. Lectra is pleased to play its part in training tomorrow’s designers.”
