Leather Research Laboratory outlines 2019 courses

20/08/2018
The Leather Research Laboratory at the University of Cincinnati will again offer a series of leather education courses in 2019.

Its two-day Leather Orientation Course will take place from April 3-4 and will cover a wide range of topics including physical structure of leather, hide supply, wet-end and finishing operations, regulations and testing and customer acceptance issues.

The orientation course takes place on the university campus and the cost to attend this year is $955 per person, although a discount is offered for additional participants from the same company.

The laboratory team will also offer a two-week Raw Hide to Crust Course in 2019, although the dates for this course have not yet been confirmed. It is aimed at those working in the leather industry and will combine classroom lectures with hands-on training at a pilot tannery facility in Philadelphia. It will cost $2,800 for both weeks.

The Leather Research Laboratory’s Quality Assurance for Leather workshop will return in 2019, after not being offered last year. The dates of the course and how much it will cost are still to be decided, but the organisers have said it will offer participants a “comprehensive understanding of the best quality control methods for quality leather production”.
