Leather Research Laboratory adds new course for 2017

06/03/2017
The Leather Research Laboratory at the University of Cincinnati has added new events to its educational calendar for 2017.

Working in partnership with the American Leather Chemists Association (ALCA) and the US Department of Agriculture’s Eastern Regional Research Center, the laboratory team will offer, in addition to its previously announced courses, an event covering leather production from raw hide to crust.

This brand-new offering is designed to be completed in two parts. It will use text from the ALCA correspondence course and draw on industry experts to give participants “the skills necessary to transform raw hides into one of nature’s most beautiful materials”, the Cincinnati team has said. The course will also use the pilot tannery at the Eastern Regional Research Center near Philadelphia.

It will cover raw to wet blue section from July 31 to August 4, and wet blue to crust from August 7 to August 11.

The cost for this course is $1,600 per person per week or $2,800 per person for both weeks.
