Ferragamo and Polimoda to launch footwear design course

Italian luxury group Salvatore Ferragamo is teaming up with Florence-based design school Polimoda to launch a new postgraduate course in shoe design.

The nine-month programme will welcome its first intake of students in January 2019.

Classes will take place at Polimoda’s campus and will be delivered by various Ferragamo employees, including senior executives and artisan shoemakers. 

The broad curriculum will include the anatomy of the foot, various aspects of shoe design, material selection, and techniques to promote new products and collections. Students will also take part in educational visits to factories operated by Ferragamo and other local footwear groups.
