Mipel to tell the story of leathergoods craftsmanship

09/07/2018
The 114th edition of the Mipel leathergoods show will take place from September 16-19 in Milan, with more than 300 brands expected to exhibit.

Mipel is co-located with footwear exhibition Micam, this year occupying halls 10 and 12 of the Rho exhibition site.

At the official presentation, Riccardo Braccialini, president of the Mipel exhibition and of organiser Italian leathergoods manufacturers’ association AIMPES, said he is confident it will be a success.

September’s Mipel will again offer a mix of established brands and emerging companies, with the ‘Scenario’ exhibition space dedicated to start-up leathergoods designers.

The show will also be the scene for the presentation of the results of a project to showcase the excellence of Italian leathergoods design and craftsmanship. It is a collaboration between Italian tanning industry association, UNIC, zip manufacturer YKK and the School of Leathergoods in Scandicci, in Tuscany.

The project aims to demonstrate the complex process that lies behind the creation of a leather handbag. At Mipel, a video-documentary will be screened to show the different stages of the creation process, from original idea to finished product.
