BLC announces Asia leather training tour

27/06/2018
The BLC Leather Technology Centre is to hold a series of leather training courses in Asia in October 2018, with those interested in attending invited to register for places.

The first course will be held in Hong Kong on October in partnership with APLF. It aims to help those attending enhance their knowledge of leather and will cover the fundamental stages of the leather making process. They will also be introduced to various types of leather and their qualities. BLC hopes the improved understanding gained by the participants will help them avoid sourcing problems and allow them to choose the right leather for their products.

A similar training course will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on October 17. As well as the above skills, this programme also aims to offer participants the knowledge and confidence required to communicate with suppliers, manufacturers and tanners.

The final stop on BLC’s Asia tour will be Bangkok, Thailand, on October 18, where it will offer a course that gives a more detailed overview of the leather making process. It will be split into two areas: raw to tanned and tanned to finished. The topics covered will include defects in raw materials and manufacturing. It will also introduce a variety of tannage types and their effects, as well as discussing the chemical properties of the leather making process and how these chemicals are regulated.

More information about the course and how to register to attend is available on the BLC Leather Technology Centre’s website
