Renault-Nissan to manufacture electric vehicles in China

04/09/2017
Automotive group Renault-Nissan has joined forces with Dongfeng Motor Corporation to form a joint venture that will develop and sell electric vehicles in China.

Renault and Nissan will each own a 25% stake in the new company, which will be called eGT New Energy Automotive, while Dongfeng will hold the remaining 50%.

The first car to come from the venture will build on an existing SUV platform from Renault-Nissan. It will use the group’s design and electric vehicle technology, combining it with Dongfeng’s low cost manufacturing operation.

Production will be based at Dongfeng’s plant in Shiyan in Central China. Production is expected to begin in 2019 with an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles.
