Chemical firms provide “start-up funding” for 2019 IULTCS Congress

Leather chemicals suppliers’ body TEGEWA has committed to providing funding to help German Leather Technicians and Chemists Association (VGCT) begin its work to arrange the XXXV IULTCS Congress, which will take place in Dresden in 2019.

Representatives of TEGEWA’s leather auxiliaries division met at the Freiberg Leather Days conference in the Netherlands in June and agreed to provide the start-up funding for the project. The companies represented at that meeting included BASF, Heim Leather, Langro, Lanxess, Plus Finishing, Pulchra Chemicals, Schill & Seilacher, Smit & zoon, Stahl, TFL, Trumpler, Wall Chemie and Zschimmer & Schwarz.

Dresden will be the first German city to host the IULTCS Congress in 25 years. The theme of the event will be ‘benign by design’, which TEGEWA has described as the overriding principle for many of the green chemistry initiatives it is working on.

The organisation has also said that its members in the field of leather chemicals “have taken great efforts to contribute to a more environmentally friendly treatment and improvement of hides and skins”, and “significantly increase productivity” at the same time.
