Lanxess to focus on sustainability in Shanghai

17/08/2017
Leather chemicals manufacturer Lanxess will present a range of solutions designed to help the leather industry become more sustainable at the 2017 All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) in Shanghai (August 30-September 1).

This will include three new tanning agents from its Tanigan product range - Tanigan LM EXP 4102, Tanigan LM LIQ EXP 4108, and Tanigan UL EXP 4103. They have been developed via an “optimised production process” that results in a lower amount of residual monomers in the end product. Lanxess has said chrome leather tanned with these agents has soft feel, a fine grain, and is easy to dye, fatliquor and mill.

Lanxess will also present a new retanning agent from the Levotan X-Biomer range, which contains products based on raw materials. The new product, Levotan X-Biomer RX liquid, is well suited for use as a resin retanning agent for automotive leather, the company has said.

The Shanghai exhibition will also see the debut of Levaderm WB, a new range of water-based dyestuffs. Available in a range of colour shades, these solvent-free dyes are suitable for spray or throughfeed dyeing.

The final innovation that Lanxess will present is its X-Biomer in situ concept. Detailed information about this can be found in the technical section of the magazine.

“We are committed to sustainability in terms of more efficient production, by-product material recycling and reduced emissions,” said Luis López-Remón, head of Lanxess’s Leather Business Unit. “The new products are part of our ‘Sustainable Leather Management’ initiative, which we developed to expand and improve our product portfolio for sustainable leather production.”

Lanxess has also said that its Liquid Purification Technologies (LPT) business unit, which offers high performance products for effective water treatment, will also be represented on its stand in Shanghai.
