Ferragamo commits to Italy in sustainability report

27/06/2017
Footwear group Salvatore Ferragamo has reaffirmed its commitment to Made in Italy in its latest sustainability report, which now covers the entire group and is its most comprehensive yet.

Almost all (99.4%) of its hides are sourced in Italy, and the group gives details of the locations of its domestic contract manufacturers.

Around half its handbag manufacturers, and a third of its shoemakers, have been making for the group for more than 11 years.

“The creation of sustainable value for the future of the planet and people is a vital and positive challenge for every business,” said group CEO Ferruccio Ferragamo. “The enrichment of our people and the area in which we operate is a fundamental aspect of our day-to-day operations and a key priority when we plan initiatives.”

During 2016, Ferragamo increased its focus on counterfeit prevention, and now all leather products are fitted with NFC (near field communication) tags.

The group employs around 4,000 and operates 680 mono-brand stores.

The new report can be read on the corporate website.
