Nigerian leather institute staff go on strike

Lectures at Nigeria’s Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST) in Zaria were halted in mid-December owing to strike action by teaching staff.

Academic staff at the institute have complained their pay and conditions are less attractive than those their peers receive at similar colleges throughout Nigeria. They have also asked for more investment in training materials for use at the institute.
