Seventh-generation Muirhead to run two Scottish Leather Group tanneries

Both these facilities run wet-end processes and supply wet blue and wet white to the group’s other tanneries, Bridge of Weir Leather and Andrew Muirhead & Son, and to external customers.
Nick Muirhead joined the group in 2007 as a project engineer with the group’s technology division, now called SLG Technology Limited. From there, he progressed to become cutting manager at Bridge of Weir Leather in 2012 and, in 2015, director and general manager of NCT Leather and W J & W Lang.
Mr Muirhead represents the seventh generation of his family to work in the business. He said of his new appointment that he believes the prospects and challenges that lie ahead for both businesses are exciting.
Iain McFadyen, chief executive of the Scottish Leather Group commented: “Nick’s appointment as managing director is a logical progression and will further develop and strengthen the group’s operational executive team and help realise our vision of being the supplier of choice to our diverse customer base.”
