Production of cars in China in October was 15% higher than September at 2.2 million units, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Sales increased 10% to reach the same figure.

This was due to a new policy of halving the purchase tax on passenger cars with engine capacities of 1.6L of less, said the association.

However, for the first ten months of the year, production was flat at 19.3 million units and sales were up 1.5% to 19.3 million.

In October, the sales of Chinese brand passenger cars reached 806,800 units, up 13.3% year on year, accounting for 41.7% of the total. During the month, sales of Chinese brand SUVs increased 82% to 347,500 units.
