Artisan fish tannery aims to go public next year

Femer, a mother-and-daughter start up from Arcachon in south-west France, has told local media it will go public in 2016 to fund growth. The company’s core business is tanning skins from the local fish industry using artisanal methods.

Monique Philip and her daughter Marielle set up their own artisanal fishskin tannery in the garage of their home in Arcachon, self-taught, apart from a self-funded fact-finding trip to Finland.

A year ago, they won an award called Grand Trophée Apec, a national award in France for promoting jobs for women.
