Job losses as New Zealand tannery cuts production 60%

04/06/2015
Deer leather specialist New Zealand Light Leathers has announced job cuts in response to falling demand, according to local press.

It plans to reduce output by 60% and terminate 46 positions in the fellmongery and finished leather divisions.

Managing director David Cassidy said the cuts give the company "the best chance of surviving”, with little chance of uptick during 2015, reported the Timaru Herald.
