New Zealand reports positive beef performance

Livestock farmers in New Zealand have reported an increase of 2.1% in the average price per tonne of exported beef and veal in the season that finished on September 30, 2014. The average export revenue for a tonne of beef or veal was more than $4,700.

North American was the source of 48% of these export revenues, while North Asia accounted for 30%.

In terms of volume, New Zealand shipped its second-largest amount of beef and veal exports in a single season, reaching 383,000 tonnes. Industry observers have said beef production volumes were high and that an increased number of dairy cows were also processed.
