Tanneries around the world are preparing for one of the biggest events in the leather industry’s calendar – the Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF), taking place in Hong Kong from March 30 to April 1.
More than 20,000 buyers from 90 countries are expected between the leather, footwear and components segments: APLF–MM&T (Materials, Manufacturing & Technology).

China is an important market for Brazilian companies, as it’s the destination for 36% of Brazilian leather exports.

José Fernando Bello, executive president of Brazilian leather association CICB, said he anticipates the country’s 37 tanneries will write $400 million of business at the fair. “Expectations are always the best possible when we are talking about APLF, after all, we are dealing with the most important event within the leather world at a global level,” he said.

“The Hong Kong event is definitely the one that brings the largest number of effective clients to Brazilian tanneries. Therefore, it is crucial to be present in the event.”
