Igualada visit inspires Moroccan ETP project

Fouad Zine Filali, outgoing president of the chamber of commerce in Fès-Boulemane in Morocco, has said he is proud of progress on a project to set up a new effluent treatment plant for the leather cluster at Ain Chegag.

Mr Filali said he had had to work to revitalise an older effluent treatment plant project at Ain Chegag that had stalled. He said progress was now steady and that he had worked closely on the project with local organisations as well as with Moroccan tanning industry federation FEDIC.

He also said a visit to see the effluent treatment plant at Igualada, near Barcelona, had been an important “source of inspiration for producing leather with a minimum of pollution”.
