Turnover at German tanneries grew by a quarter in 2014, according to the latest figures from the German Leather Association, VDL.

The 13 tanneries that employ 50 or more collectively turned over €500 million during the year, 24% more than they did in 2013.

Most of the leather they produced – between 60% and 70% - was destined for the automotive sector.
