With Thailand’s leathergoods industry gearing up for Thai Leather Week, the president of the industry's association has expressed that exports from the sector will grow 7% this year to $870,000 in value.

Veera Lertruangpunyavut told the Bangkok Post that Chinese customers are favouring crocodile and stingray skin products and that his organisation will focus on promoting its wares to other Asian countries, in case a trade preference deal with the EU concludes in 2015.

Organisers are expecting 50,000 visitors at the event in Bangkok, from November 21 to 30.
