Thai leather cluster launches shoe brand

Clus will initially manufacture moccasins, slippers and sports shoes for local export and export to neighbouring countries, with the Industrial Promotion Department suggesting it could earn $2 million annually from the footwear, with the project to add leathergoods at a later date.
"Building up local brands is one strategy to improve the capability of the Thai leather industry ahead of the integration of the Asean Economic Community by the end of 2015," department director-general Sophon Ponprasit told the Bangkok Post.
