China’s performance in leather in the first half

The China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) has confirmed that the country’s tanneries recorded output of 285 million square-metres of leather in the first six months of 2014, a decline of 1.6% compared to the same period in 2013.

Exports of semi-finished leather reached more than 5,000 tonnes in volume and $16.1 million in value in the first half, registering a year-on-year increase of 3.6% in volume and of 25.1% in value.

Exports of finished leather were more than 15,000 tonnes in volume and $233 million in value, increasing by 3.3% in volume and 23.1% in value.
