CICB hosts third Sustainability Forum

Following talks from Carlos Obregon and Cezar Muller, from JBS Couros and the Brazilian Association of Leather Chemists and Technologists, ABQTIC, futurologist Rosa Alegria, from the University of Houston, spoke about how the needs of the planet and the people who live on it will develop in the coming decades.
In the afternoon, there was a detailed presentation of the practical sustainability projects that tanning group Coming has put in place, followed by an in-depth talk on the specific challenges facing the leather industry from Dr Brigitte Wegner from the leather business unit of chemical firm BASF.
The forum concluded with a discussion on what a focus on sustainability means for the luxury leathergoods sector, with London-based designer Bill Amberg and Paris-based director of BSR, the company that runs the Sustainable Luxury Working Group, Guy Morgan.
CICB president, José Fernando Bello, closed the event by thanking all the speakers, members of the audience, sponsors and the CICB team for helping the event go from strength to strength.
