Temple Grandin to speak at São Paulo conference

Cattle welfare specialist Dr Temple Grandin of the University of Colorado will travel to Brazil in May to speak at an event called Bem Estar Animal (Animal Wellbeing).

The conference will take place in Ribeirão Preto in São Paulo state on May 8 and will be organised by a specialist meat industry media company.

In the build-up to the event, the organisers described Temple Grandin as “renowned throughout the world” for her work in animal welfare and in designing humanitarian slaughterhouse systems. As well as giving a presentation to highlight examples of best practice, Dr Grandin will also share her knowledge and expertise with the audience in a question-and-answer session.

Professor Mateus Paranhos from Júlio de Mesquita Filho state university in São Paulo will also speak on the subject of best practice in caring for cattle wellbeing, as will a number of prominent Brazilian livestock farmers.
