Thieves in Belgium have stolen 60 tons of leather worth EUR 500,000 from the Masure tannery near Tournai.

The perpetrators struck at night, forced a fence and loaded  pallets of leather into waiting trucks.

Masure, which employs around 120 people and exports 98% of production, supplies to companies  including Louis Vuitton and footwear brand Benson - although management have insisted it was not leather destined for Loius Vuitton that was taken.
