11/01/2012

Italian leathergoods firm Piquadro has announced the appointment of Eric Gusman as head of international brand development, a new position that signals Piquadro’s intention to become a global brand. He joined the company on 9 January 2012.

Mr Gusman, French by birth, has much professional experience in the leathergoods industry and, in particular, the luggage industry, having held important positions in the sector, most recently as senior vice president International at Tumi, where he worked for eight years.

At Piquadro, Mr Gusman will be responsible for foreign market development, mainly in Asia and Europe, as part of a strategy for international brand expansion. In addition, Mr Gusman’s “vast experience in the travel retail industry will allow for the development of the duty free sector which offers great potential in spite of the current economic challenges,” the company said.

Mr Gusman, who will report directly to CEO Marco Palmieri, will co-ordinate the company’s business from its Gaggio Montano headquarters near Bologna.
