Hindmarch honoured

London-based handbag designer Anya Hindmarch featured in the traditional UK New Year Honours. She received the honorary title of Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her contribution to the fashion industry.
Ms Hindmarch first decided to become a handbag designer while she was a student in Florence in the 1980s. She noticed women there were using leather duffel-bags with drawstrings at the top and brought the idea to London.
She now designs three collections every year and has worked on special collections for US retailer Target, as well as running her own boutiques in cities across 11 countries, and store-within-store outlets at high-end retail groups such as Harrod’s and Harvey Nichols.
