High-end footwear group Tod’s is one of a number of leather-sector organisations and companies to sign the 2024 Circular Fashion Manifesto, an initiative run by the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan.

SDA Bocconi runs a Sustainability Lab, which launched the Monitor for Circular Fashion (M4CF) in 2021. It describes this as “a research observatory”. M4CF launched seven projects in 2022 and a further three projects in 2023.

Organisations that have signed the initiative’s 2024 manifesto include leather manufacturer Gruppo Mastrotto, tanning industry representative body UNIC, leather industry standards body ICEC and technology provider Lectra.

In addition to Tod’s, other finished product groups that are signatories include Ferragamo, Kering and Vivienne Westwood.

On signing the manifesto for 2024, Tod’s said: “We are committed to improving circularity and traceability in value chains, and pursuing a sustainable and responsible future for the fashion sector.”

It added that it saw being part of M4CF as a way of “intensifying the promotion of circularity in our production processes, supporting our supply chains and preserving the artisanal quality of our products”.
