British Pasture Leather readies black leather from regenerative farms
British Pasture Leather, which aims to create a supply of leather from ‘regenerative’ UK farms, is set to offer a limited volume of black leather, with no minimum order.
Co-founder Alice Robinson was inspired to launch the company after realising there was a disconnect between people’s views of leather and the animals they come from, and reasoned that if people pay more to know the meat they eat comes from well-looked after animals, they might feel the same about their leather.
She said: “We believe that regenerative agriculture is a critical solution in renewing soils, stewarding ecosystems, and reforming food and fashion systems. Our vision is to connect leather with exemplary agriculture, and ours is the first supply of leather from the hides of cattle raised on regenerative farms in the UK.”
The first commercially available bags have been produced by Billy Tannery. Designed in collaboration with British Pasture Leather, the bags combine deer suede and cattle leather and are available on Billy Tannery's website.
Parties interested in the first batches of black leather are asked to contact Britsh Pasture Leather.
