Bursaries available for UK leather crafters

The UK’s Leathersellers’ Foundation has partnered with charity Heritage Crafts to boost opportunities for leatherworkers by providing grants of up to £4,000.

The Leathersellers - London’s ancient leather industry guild – has also launched a search for the Young Leatherworker of the Year.

The award has been created to celebrate a leatherworker aged 25 or under who has made an outstanding start to their career.

Natalia Rymaszewska, Leathersellers’ head of grants, said: “Our ambition is to offer more opportunities for people seeking to develop skills and knowledge in leatherwork and recognise rising talent in the leather industry to inspire others.

“These bursaries and awards will widen our support for aspiring makers: those turning their passion into a business or people looking to elevate their technical skills with training.”
