Brazilian leather industry body CICB has reported preliminary figures for the sector’s exports in 2023.

Quoting the country’s ministry for external trade, CICB said the volume of exports of hides and of semi-finished and finished leather increased substantially in 2023, but the value of those exports was lower than the figures for 2022.

For the whole of 2023, the new figures show export volumes of 430.6 kilotonnes of hides and leather. This suggests growth of 21.5% year on year.

Revenues from those exports were just over $1.1 billion, which represents a fall of 8.3% compared to 2022.
