JBS improves audited cattle purchase

JBS, the world’s largest meatpacker, has reduced cattle purchases from ranches “with irregularities” such as illegal deforestation, Reuters reports.

Federal prosecutors’ latest audit in the Amazonian state of Para revealed that 6% of JBS’s audited cattle purchases came from farms potentially blacklisted for environmental or human-rights violations. This is a significant improvement from the previous auditing cycle, where nearly 17% of audited cattle purchases had irregularities.

JBS aims to achieve 100% compliance.
