New issue of World Leather out now

The October-November issue of World Leather is now available to read.

Our Leather Leaders interview this time is with vice-president of the China Leather Industry Association, Chen Zhanguang, with whom we discuss the impact of the extensive covid lockdowns in China on the industry there, plans for recovery and details of how CLIA hopes to help local consumers better understand the differences between leather and substitute materials.

In Technology, Stahl provides an update on its research into reducing bisphenol levels in leather and leather products, first presented at this year’s Freiberg Leather Days. Other technology articles explore new developments with Olivenleder’s chrome-free tanning options with by-products from the olive harvest, plus a full round-up of the Tanning Tech exhibition in September.

In Leather and the Circular Economy, we take a look at Apple’s decision to disconnect its leather supply, we unpack the latest on the European Union’s requirements for deforestation-free materials and learn why traditional techniques are always contemporary from Chanel-owned Le 19M. Birkenstock’s glow-up rounds out this issue in Beast to Beauty. We hope you enjoy every article.
