Hyundai Transys wins coveted award
South Korean auto powertrain and seat manufacturer Hyundai Transys has announced winning the 2023 Red Dot Design Award.
Red Dot design awards, considered to be one of the top worldwide design competitions, is organised by the Nordrhein Westfalen Design Center in Germany and covers various categories based on design function and innovation.
The future mobility concept seat won the grand prize in the mobility and transportation category for design concept.
Using scraps of leather, collected from Leather Working Group (LWG) silver and gold rated tanneries, leather fibres are mixed with recycled PET fibres to produce spun yarn. The resulting fabric made from the yarn was used in the main part of the seat with an additional weave pattern used in the bolster.
Senior Vice President of Hyundai Transys Seat Division Seo Seung-woo said : "It is meaningful that Hyundai Transys' continuous efforts to develop human- and nature-friendly seats have been recognized by the Red Dot Design Award,"
Adding "We will continue to take the lead in realizing eco-friendly values by introducing sustainable seats that enhance customer convenience."
