Leather highlights from LVMH at Paris Fashion Week
Leather featured prominently in the women’s collections that brands in the LVMH group presented at Paris fashion week in early March.
The collection for autumn-winter 2023-2024 that Matthew Williams designed for Givenchy included leather jackets and smocked leather dresses.
For Loewe, Jonathan Anderson used leather in shirt-jackets and boots, as well as in a wide range of accessories. He also used some of the ideas that came out of a craft project combining basket-weaving and leather that Loewe ran last year.
Among the highlights of the collection Nicolas Ghesquière prepared for Louis Vuitton were “boots that imitate skin tones or the whiteness of a pair of socks”. He also used leather patches on dresses and other garments. Another feature was a range of very narrow leather belts around jackets and dresses, which the brand said had the effect of “highlighting the feminine body”.
