A record year for Rolls-Royce

10/01/2022

Automotive brand Rolls-Royce Motor Cars delivered its highest-ever annual sales results in 2021. The company delivered 5,586 motor cars to clients around the world, up 49% on the figure for 2020.

It said all of its models performed well. Its Ghost model was a standout, with demand increasing after the launch of the Black Badge Ghost in October. The Cullinan and the Phantom have also proved popular. Rolls-Royce has said its order books are full well into the third quarter of 2022.

Bespoke commissions were also at record levels, with examples including the Phantom Oribe, which the company co-created with luxury leathergoods brand Hermès.

Reflecting on the results, chief executive, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, said: “This has been a truly historic year. In the past 12 months, we have recorded our highest-ever annual sales, launched the latest addition to our Black Badge family, stunned the world with our coachbuilding capabilities and made huge strides into our all-electric future.”

Rolls-Royce announced its first all-electric car, the Spectre, during 2021 and intends to bring it to market by the fourth quarter of 2023. Preparations are taking place now for the brand to have an all-electric future.
