TransAsia TanTec tannery certified LWG gold

26/08/2021

Leather manufacturing group ISA TanTec has announced that its latest Vietnamese tannery, TransAsia TanTec, has been certified gold by the Leather Working Group (LWG).

The business is ISA’s second tannery in Vietnam and its fourth worldwide. It currently has three tanneries considered gold standard by LWG (two in Vietnam and one in China), plus an LWG silver-rated tannery in the United States.

Despite its gold rating, ISA said that it is continuing to invest in sustainable projects at TransAsia TanTec, such as the addition of a photovoltaic solar energy system for on-site electricity generation.

In other related news, three ISA executives recently joined leading industry trade associations, including Keith Hill (vice president of sustainable business development) to the Leather and Hide Council of America as a board director, Reiner Hengstmann (vice president of additional materials) to the Sustainable Leather Foundation as an advisory board member and Carl Flach (senior strategies director) to Leather Naturally’s supervisory council.
