University confirms ICLT courses and research will continue

The University of Northampton has confirmed a change of “alignment” for its Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT), but the courses it teaches and the research it carries out will continue.

As leatherbiz reported on August 10, ICLT director, Rachel Garwood, is to leave the role on October 1. The university has now confirmed that it will bring fashion and leather together as a new, combined subject area that will sit within its faculty of art, science and technology.

As part of this new set-up, ICLT will continue its leather technology and science research, and the leather technology courses it teaches will continue long term, the university has said.

It has created a new post that will involve oversight of teaching for the new subject area and the research activities of the ICLT. It intends to fill this position in the course of the autumn.
