ICLT director to leave role
The director of the University of Northampton’s Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT), Rachel Garwood, is to leave the role at the start of October.
Ms Garwood said the university had decided to merge its leather department, including ICLT, with its fashion department and that, as a result of this restructure, her role had become redundant.
Rachel Garwood became director of the ICLT in 2011 after working there as a senior lecturer since 2008. Before that, she worked for almost 20 years at the BLC Leather Technology Centre.
She said on announcing her departure that she wished the ICLT and the new merged department at the University of Northampton ongoing success. She added that she hoped to bring her 33 years’ experience of the leather industry, comprising technical, marketing, business development and managerial roles, in addition to her work in leather education and training, to a new role in the leather industry.
