Cyberattack costs JBS USA less than a day’s production
The US division of packer and leather group JBS said on June 3 that it had resolved a cyberattack that hit the company at the end of May. The attack affected servers used to manage its business in the US and Australia.
It said its swift response, its robust IT systems and encrypted back-up servers had allowed it to recover the situation quickly.
It confirmed that the attack had cost it less that one day’s worth of production and that it would recover the lost volume within a week.
Chief executive of JBS USA, Andre Nogueira, said: “The criminals were never able to access our core systems, which greatly reduced potential impact. We are fortunate that all of our facilities around the globe are operating at normal capacity. We are focused on fulfilling our responsibility to produce safe, high-quality food.”
It said it was unaware of any compromise of customer, supplier or employee data as a result of the situation.
