Arzignano-based leather manufacturer Gruppo Mastrotto has announced that all of the electricity it uses in 2021 will come from 100% renewable sources.

Chief executive, Chiara Mastrotto, said this move meant the group was making progress on its path towards sustainability.

The group said that, by making sure all of the electricity its uses this year is from certified renewable sources would mean a reduction of more than 20% in its greenhouse gas emissions. 

 It said this equated to more than 5,000 tonnes of CO2-equivalent per year and that a reduction in emissions on this scale would have the same carbon-reducing effect as 250,000 trees.
