Pieter Mulier named new creative director of Alaïa
For the first time following the death of Tunisian couturier, shoe and leathergoods designer Azzedine Alaïa in 2017, the Richemont-owned house of Alaïa has named a successor in the form of Belgian creative director Pieter Mulier.
Known in fashion circles as the “righthand” of current Prada co-creative director and fellow Belgian Raf Simons, according to Vogue, Mr Mulier previously worked with Mr Simons at Calvin Klein, Dior and Jil Sander.
“It is an absolute dream to join this prestigious Maison, its beautiful ateliers and its talented team. Azzedine Alaïa’s powerful vision has served as an inspiration, as he always sought to give the necessary time to innovative and enduring creation,” Mr Mulier said.
“It is with tremendous sense of admiration and responsibility that I will seek to carry forward this legacy of celebrating femininity and to jointly shape the future of this legendary Maison,” he continued.
