Smit & Zoon’s Codyeco eliminates PFCs

Codyeco, a subsidiary of Netherlands-based leather chemicals manufacturer Smit & Zoon, has taken the decision to eliminate all perfluorocarbons (PFCs) from its product portfolio, in line with Smit & Zoon’s sustainability policy, the company said in a press release.

Instead, after “many months of intensive research”, Codyeco has launched Aguastop W 200, a PFC-free, water-based product, which protects against water and is anti-soiling.

The company described Aguastop W 200 as a “truly innovative” combination of material science technology and “special functional polysiloxanes”.

“All application trials conducted in our laboratories demonstrated that Aguastop W 200 gives high-performance water repellence results, in line with the current PFC technology, but with one very important difference: Aguastop W 200 has no negative impact on the environment,” Codyeco said.
