Cairo fair postponed for a year

The inaugural Pan African Leather Fair (PALF), which was to take place in Cairo from June 21-23, will now take place in June next year instead.

Informa, the parent company of the organiser of the APLF event in Hong Kong, announced the launch of PALF a year ago, saying it would work with a local partner, Cairo for Investment and Development (CID), to host the event. CID is the company that manages the Roubiki Leather City cluster outside the Egyptian capital.

The organisers maintain that Cairo is the ideal venue for PALF because Egypt currently has 300 tanneries, 50 footwear factories, more than 3,500 workshops and a combined workforce of around 250,000 people.
