Egypt: Leather fair to support El Roubiki and ‘growing industry’
Egypt exports $14 million worth of tanned leather per year and imports $200 million worth of leathergoods, according to the organisers of the Pan Africa Leather Fair.
The event will be held in Egypt for the first time this summer and expects to attract leathergoods and shoe companies, automotive brands and wholesalers to the “ultimate hub for the growing leather industry”.
Exhibitors will include hides and skins traders, tanners, chemical companies, machinery suppliers, shoe components makers and other suppliers.
Organisers said: “Following the election of Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as the head of the African Union and the launch of El Roubiki Leather City, Informa Markets and Cairo for Investment and Development have collaborated to launch a new Pan-African leather fair to support the leather industry in Africa and the Middle East.”
They cite that Egypt has 100 million residents and a GDP of $336 billion, and has tariff-free access to 62 markets.
The event will take place between June 21 and 23 at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC), Cairo.
