Further UK events fall foul of the coronavirus

The leather industry in the UK has announced the cancellation of two further events because of the coronavirus outbreak.

First, the annual lunch of the Leather & Hide Trades’ Benevolent Institution (LHTBI), due to take place on May 7, fell to the virus, with the organisation saying it will not be able to re-arrange the event this year.

It said two prize draws that it intended to hold at the lunch to raise money for former leather industry workers who are in need will still go ahead on May 7.

Industry association Leather UK said a dinner it planned to hold on June 11 was also cancelled. Leather UK said it was hoping to re-schedule the event for later in the year.

Both events were to take place at Leathersellers’ Hall in London.
