Riva Schuh and Gardabags brought forward to ‘relaunch supply chain’
Organisers of Italian leathergoods and shoe fairs Riva Schuh and Gardabags have moved the dates for the next event forward from January 2021 to between December 11 and 14.
They said companies are keen for a quick return to “commercial exchange at international level” and they hope to “relaunch the supply chain”.
Roberto Pellegrini, chairman of fair organiser Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, said: “In a constantly evolving context, exceptional decisions sometimes need to be taken: our new choice of dates for Expo Riva Schuh and Gardabags aims to safeguard the target markets of these two events.
“Over the past two months, we have maintained a constant flow of dialogue with exhibiting companies and buyers. What has emerged is a common desire not to accept the moment passively, but to react, aiming to turn the crisis into an opportunity.”
Organisers cancelled the summer show, which was due to take place near Lake Garda (north of Milan) in June, due to the pandemic.
Between July and November, a calendar of virtual events is planned, starting with ‘After the Covid storm: from difficulties to relaunch - how the world footwear market is behaving?’ on July 22.
Alessandra Albarelli, managing director of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, added: “To keep the relationship alive between community members, we have planned a series of webinars dedicated to this sector.”
