First GQ fashion awards celebrates Prada, Celine, Men’s Bags
19/12/2019
Among the winners were Miuccia Prada as Designer of the Year. The magazine referred to Ms Prada as the “thinking person's designer” who “transcends the influencer age with clothes that are both urgent and eternal”.
Celine’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection (pictured) was named Look of the Year. “Every time the visionary designer Hedi Slimane reimagines the suit, it leads to a fashion revolution,” GQ wrote of the collection. “This time, for his menswear debut at Celine, he introduced a double-breasted jacket with double-pleated pants. Sharp, with just a hint of slouch.”
The “Men’s It Bag” was named Accessory of the Year. This year, GQ said, the trend of men carrying bags “solidified into a full-on movement”, as men moved beyond their bumbags to embrace the handbag — “the ultimate symbol of fashion obsession”.
