Leathergoods sales grow by 15% as LVMH has ‘exceptional’ Q1

11/04/2019
Luxury group LVMH achieved sales of more than €12.5 billion in the first quarter of 2019, giving it organic growth (growth with comparable structure and exchange rates) of 11% compared to the same three months last year.

Its leathergoods division contributed €5.1 billion to the total, which represents organic growth of 15% year on year.

Within this, the group singled out flagship leathergoods brand Louis Vuitton, saying it had achieved “remarkable growth” across its businesses with a first-quarter performance that was “exceptional”.

The group said Louis Vuitton had opened a new leathergoods workshop during the quarter specifically to meet growing demand and address stock shortages.

It said Christian Dior had also performed “exceptionally well”, while Celine began to roll out a “new concept” and Fendi, Loewe and Berluti all grew fast.
